ABSTRACT
A model of an overhead AC power line has been proposed to estimate total active power losses and the allocation of the crown loss component of the overhead line. The requirements have been formulated for rapid assessment of active power losses on the current mode settings at the ends of the ultra-high voltage overhead lines. The measurement system, based on the evaluation of the systematic error of measurement of total losses and on its exclusion from the overall result, is presented. The results of the mode measurement and estimating the crown loss at the line of 500 kV on the basis of specialized measurement systems with personal computers are given.
